Military order of the Purple Heart Department of Minnesota has approved $2,000 for free associate membership for the next 40 associate members

We are doing this, in an effort to increase the amount of people taking part with chapter activities in an effort to make chapters more active. We have seen from chapters that have a high number of associate members that more members are attending  their chapter meetings that the chapters are more active, and we would like to see every chapter raising money, getting out in the community, and doing good things for veterans.

We understand that there will be a gap in the age between Vietnam veterans and Iraq, Afghanistan veterans and we think our best chance for chapters to survive the next 10-20 years would be filling that gap with associate members. Associate members can be children of Purple Heart veteran’s or spouse’s or brothers and sisters Etc.

Application must be sent when complete to the department office at-

Minnesota Military Museum’s 2018 Storyteller Series

Saturday, February 3, 2018

Bloomington, MN

To commemorate our 40th year, the Minnesota Military Museum invites the public to join in a conversation as we welcome four accomplished authors to speak to their respective books on Minnesotans who made history. These new books span a century of service from the Great War to the Global War on Terror.
The books being presented include:

  • Minnesota 1918: When Flu, Fire and War Ravaged the State by Curt Brown (1:00-1:30)
  • War Stories Vol. III: Further Accounts of Minnesotans Who Defended their Nation by Al Zdon (1:30-2:00)
  • Roaring Bull: The 34th Infantry Division in the Global War on Terror by Brian Leehan (2:00-2:30)
  • Leadership and Lessons Learned: The Life and Career of Gen. John Vessey, Jr. by Thomas Saylor (2:30-3:00)

The event will run from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bloomington, MN located at: 1114 American Blvd W, Bloomington, MN 55420. The books by Curt Brown, Brian Leehan, and Al Zdon will be available for sale and signing at the event. All books will be added to the museum’s library collection for use by our patrons once the library opens. There will also be uniforms and related artifacts from the museum collection on display. This event is free and open to the public, though a suggested donation of $5 is appreciated. Please rsvp, via email, to rdietrich@mnmilitarymuseum.org.
