The Purple Heart is the only decoration that attests, without question, to the bearer having been in combat. It is one for which an individual cannot be recommended, it can only be earned.

Late yesterday the DoD announced that the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, signed a policy that allows Wounded Warrior Purple Heart recipients to transfer unused Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits to their dependents regardless of the number of years they have served.

As a way to help bring awareness of this, the Albert Lea VA Clinic will be participating in a 20 minute walk on 9/19 @ 4:30 pm. We invite anyone to participate that is interested.
Chapter 5 will hold its last meeting at the South Saint Paul VFW Post 295 on Sept 22, 10:30 am. This is due to the building being sold with new tenants. Future location is being secured based on the sale date of the VFW Post building.
