Eldon W. Tracy, Grand Rapids, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Itasca Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1920, to Basil and Marie (Messervy) Tracy in Winnebago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart while serving in the South Pacific. On Feb. 4, 1941, he was married to Irene B. Thies in Moose Lake. They lived in Moose Lake but for a few years that they lived in Chicago, Ill., and in 1965, they moved to Grand Rapids from Moose Lake. He worked 24 years at Itasca Creamery in Grand Rapids, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Purple Heart Club, The Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of Cooties, all in Grand Rapids. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; a daughter, Cheryle (Robert) Buldra, Las Vegas, Nev.; three sons, Warren and Jim (Julie) Tracy, both of Grand Rapids, and Gary (Diane) Tracy, Duluth; two brothers, Cary Tracy, Cedar, and Don Tracy, Kettle River; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services: Thursday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at Rowe Funeral Home with the Rev. George Gilbertson officiating.
