Miesbauer, John W. Age 97 of Anoka passed away Feb. 29, 2020. John grew up in Hibbing, MN. He was a WWII Veteran for 3 years and served with the 191st Tank Battalion for 2 1/2 years in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany. A Purple Heart recipient. Graduated, worked and retired from the University of Minnesota where he was the Director of Accounting Records and Services. He loved Gopher sports, reading and travel, but above all else he loved his family. Survived by loving wife, Jackie of 72 1/2 years; children, Jan (Bill) Kamp, Jim Miesbauer, Jean (Arne) Tilleson, Joan Miesbauer (Chuck Wait), Jill (Chuck) Merriam; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Tony and Tekla; brothers, Bob and Allan. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the U of M Foundation. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
